Office Chair Quality Inspection Checklist
A model-specific checklist for office-chair appearance, dimensions, functions, assembly, durability evidence, packaging and defect records.
Inspection should connect the approved sample to the production batch. The checklist below is a starting structure; limits, sampling level and required tests must be agreed for each order.
1. Identity and dimensions
Confirm model, color, components, labels and critical dimensions against the approved specification.
- Seat, back and overall dimensions
- Gas-lift height range
- Armrest and headrest adjustment range
- Carton marks and product labels
2. Appearance and workmanship
Review visible surfaces under consistent lighting and record recurring defects separately from isolated cosmetic marks.
- Upholstery color, wrinkles and stains
- Mesh tension and frame finish
- Stitching alignment and loose threads
- Mold marks, sharp edges and coating defects
3. Function and assembly
Operate every adjustment on sampled chairs and assemble units from unopened cartons to reveal hardware or alignment problems.
- Tilt, recline and lock engagement
- Gas-lift movement and rotation
- Caster movement and base stability
- Hole alignment, hardware count and instruction clarity
4. Packaging and records
Packaging checks should show whether the product can reach the buyer without surface damage or missing parts.
- Component separation and abrasion protection
- Carton condition and sealing
- Hardware pack and spare-parts allowance
- Defect photos, quantities and corrective action
Buyer questions
Does a visual inspection replace laboratory testing?
No. Visual and functional inspection complements, but does not replace, required safety or performance testing.
Should every chair be inspected?
The inspection plan depends on risk, order size and agreement. Sampling standards and critical checks should be defined before inspection.
What is the most common inspection mistake?
Using a generic checklist without the approved sample, component list and model-specific acceptance limits.
